From fliers to fighter pilots: the history of the Canadian Air Defence
Presented as a timeline, the exhibition, From fliers to fighter pilots: the history of Canadian Air Defence will allow you to discover the fascinating history of Canada's military aviation from 1909 to today. You will also learn the history of the Canadian Forces Base in Bagotville, whose purpose was to train new pilots and protect local civilian industries (ie: Alcan's aluminum and hydroelectric powerplants) during World War Two.
From the start of the 1950's, Bagotville's role changed: the Base became a vital part of the North American Air Defence organisation during an important period of recent history: the Cold War.
With fun and interactive multimedia stations, you will learn the basics of Morse Code, and be able to test your aptitude.
You will also see many rare artefacts linked to the fascinating world of military aviation.
